Owen DeVance

Education Consultant

Owen G. DeVance’s resume includes a 30 years career at Southern California Edison (SCE) where he served in a number of capacities. His most recent position was as a Human Resources (HR) consultant with the HR Learning & Development Department. In this role, Owen managed several compliance programs including Sexual Harassment and Diversity & Inclusion. Prior to working in HR, Owen was a member of the Job Skills Training department for eight years as an instructional designer/trainer. Recently, Owen made a career transition to independent consulting. In this new role, he will provide instructional design consulting, training/facilitation and project management services.

As an educator, Owen has taught at a Community College, at a Charter school, and most recently at a local high school. Owen facilitated an after-school lab for nine years at Poly High, the home of Scholars and Champions in the city of Long Beach. Owen has worked in his second career since 1992. His education includes a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Masters degree in Political Science from California State University at Long Beach. Owen also has two teaching credentials and Project Management certification from UC Irvine. He is currently a doctoral candidate. Owen’s hobbies include reading philosophy, watching classic movies, jogging and working out.

Owen had the distinction of serving as a member of the Speakers Bureau for many years where he was awarded Speaker of the Year awards on five different occasions. He has also participated in numerous marathons.
